Each function represents 10% of the job.
• Announce and Enforce Rules: Announce and enforce rules pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affecting health and safety of players. Ensure all required forms are on file for team members, including EL2, EL3, insurance verification, sportsmanship contract, birth certificate, and others.
• Professional Development: Attend mandatory FHSAA rules clinics and Gateway Conference meetings. Continue to work on professional development by attending coaching clinics.
• Physical Exams and Equipment Verification: Cooperate with the Athletic Director in establishing physical examinations and verify that no candidate is issued equipment or allowed to practice/condition until the DCPS Athletic Health Examination Form is completed in full and signed by athlete, parent/guardian, and physician.
• Fund Raising Activities: Conduct and supervise at least one fund-raising activity for the sport.
• Team Supervision: Ensure the team is supervised at all times, including locker room supervision and ensuring athletes are picked up after practices and contests.
• Title IX, FHSAA, and DCBS Regulations: Know and enforce rules and regulations required by Title IX, FHSAA, and Duval County School Board.
• Academic Progress Monitoring: Monitor academic progress of each team member on a weekly basis.
• Practice and Game Organization: Organize practice and game responsibilities that are clear and understood by all involved; provide specific duties for coaching throughout the program.
• Injury Reporting and Return to Play: Report injuries of participants to the Athletic Trainer and/or Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program, and complete a student accident report form. Secure signed approval from doctor and parents before student is allowed to participate in athletic activities again (return to play form).
• Program Improvement and Support: Support and be an active participant in striving to improve the athletic program as well as the total educational program of the schools.
• Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certifications & Licenses

Completion of required athletic coaching courses, including First Aid and CPR, Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Concussion in Sports (NFHS), AED Training, Florida Department of Education Certificate (Athletic Coaching)

Knowledge

Knowledge of the sport and strategies associated with the sport
