Classroom Associate

Job Summary

The Classroom Associate supports classroom teachers with instruction and student supervision.

Essential Functions

Assist and Support the Classroom Teacher

Assist and support the classroom teacher with reading and math instruction; working with small groups or individual students. Assist the teacher in monitoring student progress by maintaining records and providing feedback as requested. Take directions for instruction from the classroom teacher. Work in collaboration with teacher(s) using developmentally appropriate practices.

Use Positive Reinforcement Techniques

Use positive reinforcement techniques and strategies to assist in managing behavior throughout the school routine including transition times, lunch, and recess.

Maintain Professional Learning and Growth

Maintain professional learning and growth by attending provided training.

Job Specifications

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma, HISET, or G.E.D

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Ability to relate to students. Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse workforce and student population. Effective written and oral communication. Basic computer skills. Maintain confidentiality. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
