General Position Description
Assist in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the classroom students' curriculum goals and instructional programs while representing KHA in a positive and professional manner.

• Follow discipline guidelines in accordance with school policy and legal requirements
• Implement positive behavioral supports
• Maintain and monitor compliance with classroom rules, procedures and behavior standards

Exhibit Knowledge of Health, Safety and Emergency Procedures
• Demonstrate knowledge of universal health care precautions
• Participate in sustaining a clean, healthy and safe learning environment
• Recognize indicators of abuse (substance, physical, sexual and emotional) and demonstrate knowledge of RI reporting laws.

Additional Duties Job Descriptions
• Provide coverage for staff within the program at various sites during periods of short staffing, inclement weather, emergency conditions, etc.
• Provide coverage/support across the school as needed including the classroom, recess, lunch and the cafeteria.
Education, Experience and Special Skills
Associated degree or successful completion of a teacher assistant training program approved by the RI Department of Education. Exceptions: (1) Certification as a teacher assistant in another state, (2) Hold an associate's degree or bachelor's degree and have completed coursework or other training consistent with our state standards.
