Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate long-term substitute classroom paraeducator to support the educational needs of students in the SSC program at Johnson Elementary School. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about fostering a positive learning environment and assisting teachers in delivering effective instruction.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them understand concepts and complete assignments.
• Monitor student behavior and provide guidance to promote a positive learning environment.
• Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with special education requirements.
• Prepare instructional materials and resources as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Assist with classroom management and maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the educational mission of the school.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in education or child development is preferred.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support student learning and development.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to follow directions and adapt to varying classroom situations.
• Must pass background checks and comply with school district policies and procedures.
