St. Augustine School is seeking a faithful, joyful, and mission-driven special education teacher (grades 5-8) to join our faculty this school year.
Located in downtown Andover, St. Augustine School offers a high-quality Catholic education for over 440 students from pre-K 3 through grade 8. We are looking for a dynamic educator who is eager to share in our Christ-centered mission, has a strong understanding of special education instruction and adolescent development, and seeks to serve not just as an instructor, but as a witness to the faith. Primary Responsibilities
Prepare and provide specialized instruction for students with disabilities, both in and outside the general education setting. Work with administration and grade 5-8 teachers to set instructional objectives for special education students. Assess student progress frequently and adjust student goals as needed. Support the development of student success plans in partnership with administration. Collaborate closely with grade 5-8 teachers to support instruction of special education students, consulting and communicating frequently. Attend grade 5-8 teacher meetings and professional development. Oversee other support staff working with grade 5-8 special education students. Attend IEP meetings with the public school district for students on your caseload, coordinating the collection of needed forms and data and communicating with the public school district. Write progress reports for students. Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and needs. Contribute positively to the school culture and community. Participate actively in professional development and ongoing formation.The Ideal Candidate
Qualifications
Have a wholehearted commitment to the mission of Catholic education. Hold a Bachelor's degree and Massachusetts Moderate Disabilities Teaching Licensure; Master's degree a plus. Demonstrate strong knowledge of special education law, curriculum, and instructional best practices. Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Possess a deep love for adolescents and a commitment to helping them grow in faith, academics, and character. Show a desire for continual growth and excellence in teaching.Compensation & Benefits
