Job Responsibilities
Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental characteristics of special education students. Demonstrate the ability to communicate appropriately with the students, parents and staff. Must be willing to provide assistance and instruction in the area of personal hygiene, toileting, health and fitness, and community living. Must be willing to participate in field trips and home visits when necessary. Be available to attend summer or after school in-service services which pertain to meeting the needs of special education students. Possess the ability to promote positive self-esteem and encourage academic growth Demonstrate good judgment to provide for the safety of all students and staff Demonstrate the flexibility to respond to changes in assignment in emergency situations as determined by the building principal. Maintain confidentiality in regards to student information as required by FERPA. Assist in carrying out educational plans as prescribed by IEP. Provide physical strength and stamina to meet the needs of special education students. Perform other related duties or tasks necessary to insure the success of students and the program.Conducts Him/Herself in a Professional Manner
