Job Summary
Work under the direction of professional staff to support students with special needs. Assist with supervision, implement behavior management strategies, and provide individualized support.
Principal Duties
• Work with students individually or in group settings
• Supervise students in various settings (classroom, cafeteria, halls, etc.)
• Implement behavior management strategies
• May include riding the bus with students
• May include working one-to-one with a student to complete assigned tasks
• Student supervision required
• Ensuring student safety is required
• Other duties may be assigned
• Assist students with necessary health assistance under the guidance of nurses
• Assist in preparation of materials used in educational process
• Assist students at mealtime
• Assist students in personal hygiene areas
• Help get students to and from bus or car
• Other duties as may be assigned
• Assignments may vary based on building and district needs
Classification
• Teacher Associate (7 hours/day)
• Hourly Rate: $17.26/hour

• Frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing duties
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0 to 12 feet, and occasionally up to 20 feet (curriculum materials, desks, chairs, boxes)
• Sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc.

• Quiet noise level in the work environment
• Commitment of professional working hours that may require extending beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday
• Frequent work in different areas of the classroom, including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities
• Work usually done in indoor temperatures but may work outdoors when supervising students outside of the classroom
