About the Employer

Job Title: - 1:1 Special Education Assistant
Reports to: - Building Principal/Special Education Supervisor
Work Schedule: - 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday
Salary: - $18.24 starting hourly rate
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED
* Minimum of 48 semester hours of secondary education or have passed the Praxis Parapro Exam
* One or two years related experience working with students with disabilities (preferred)
* Must pass the written test or meet the educational requirements of the "No Child Left Behind Act"
* Ability to meet the requirements and apply for an Educational Aide Permit with the Ohio Department of Education
Responsibilities:
* Ability to work effectively with students, including those who display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior
* Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively
* Organizational and problem-solving skills
* Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations
* Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students
* Knowledge and ability to apply behavior management techniques in enforcing school discipline in an appropriate context
* Possess the physical strength and ability required to lift, assist restrain, or pursue handicapped students
* Clerical skills, including knowledge of office machines
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience working with computers

* Maintains a good attendance record and is punctual
