Salary Range

$100,000-$110,000 annual base salary.

Special Education Supervisor Role

The special education supervisor provides leadership, supervision, and oversight of special education programming and services to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate, high-quality educational supports in accordance with their individualized education programs (IEPs). This role supervises and supports special education educators and assigned personnel; oversees the implementation of IEPs, specially designed instruction, and student supports; monitors compliance with IDEA, Pennsylvania Chapter 711, and other applicable federal and state requirements; and promotes consistent special education practices across assigned programs, grade levels, or teams.

Essential Functions

• Provides instructional and programmatic leadership for assigned special education educators, programs, and grade levels, establishing clear expectations for high-quality instruction, specially designed instruction, student engagement, and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Leads collaboration with parents, guardians, advocates, educators, related service providers, and school teams to identify student needs, resolve concerns, and develop and implement individualized special education services.
• Develops and sustains inclusive, effective special education programming across assigned grade levels and programs in partnership with principals, general and special education teachers, related service providers, and other instructional leaders.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises special education teachers, transition coordinators, instructional aides, paraprofessionals, reading specialists, and other positions as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree
• Special Education Supervisor Certificate
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in special education, including experience providing special education instruction and/or services to students with disabilities.

Minimum Required Skill Set

• Great organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Adaptable technology skills
• Experience using search engines (internet) for research projects
• Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s in Education preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
• Demonstrated experience managing large, multi-disciplinary teams within special education programs
• Background in serving students with multiple special education eligibilities
• Proven track record of designing and delivering professional development on special education compliance and evidence-based instructional strategies
