Job Title: Paraprofessional PCA 1:2-Elevates
Function:
Directly responsible to the school principal and/or Director of Special Education for providing services that will allow students to take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials. When assigned to a classroom, teacher assistants will be under the supervision of a certified teacher.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Under the supervision of a certified teacher, prepares for classroom activities.
- Works with small groups of students to reinforce concepts initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assists individual children in need of special attention.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
- Provides assistance, under the direction of the physical and/or occupational therapist, to individual students
in need of special care; including medical problems, such as toileting, changing dressings, wheelchairs, prosthetic devices and other conditions and situations requiring adult assistance and/or supervision.
- Performs non-instructional classroom duties, such as assistance with lunch, snack, toilet and clothing routines.
- Assists small groups of students in the library.
- Assists with reading and storytelling.
- Participates in in-service training program.
- Assists with the supervision of students during lunch and recess periods, and on field trips.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is
expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:
- Hold a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Meet Rhode Island Instructional Assistant Requirements:
A. An Associate's degree or beyond in any area,
B. Two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 college credits),
C. Meet the standard of performance set by the State of Rhode Island on the Paraprofessional Test and
D. If hired after January 1, 1999, complete a State of Rhode Island approved Teacher Assistant Training Course.
