Job Summary

Under close supervision, operates a school bus to safely transport students for Somerton School District No. 11.

$17.92 - $19.26 (DOE, up to 5 years experience)

Work Environment

The work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments.

Physical Requirements

Frequent driving Bending and lifting up to 30 pounds Exposure to moving equipment, extreme weather conditions, toxic fumes, chemicals, and infectious diseases.

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics Required

Knowledge

Motor vehicle laws (especially pertaining to school bus operation) School bus inspection methods and procedures School disciplinary procedures Occupational hazards and safety precautions

Skills

Safely operating a school bus Monitoring students and keeping order while driving Following oral and written instructions Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent Arizona Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus Driver Certification Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the district.
