Long Term Substitute Math Specialist Position

Job Summary

Westfield Public Schools is seeking a qualified applicant for one (1) opening of a long term sub math specialist position at Westfield Middle School. The Math Specialist will work with teachers and school administrators to identify students who are in need of academic support and intervention in mathematics.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates skill at interpretation of assessment data to drive instruction Reviews data to make instructional decisions to address student weakness Utilizes instruction management systems which increases student learning and maximizes time on task Plans and teaches lessons to classes and small groups of at-risk students using state standards, district curriculum, and various assessments Plans and develops lessons and activities conducive to remote learning and student need Collaborates with the principal, classroom teachers, coaches, and other appropriate staff in the school by meeting regularly to provide coordinated instruction to raise student learning and achievement. Collaborates with teachers for instruction planning and delivery Utilizes MTSS model and tiered instruction Monitors and maintains accurate records on student achievement, articulating the progress and success Evaluates student performance and provides parents/guardians with goals and progress reports Provides explicit, scientifically based instruction to students Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning Promotes and maintains positive relationships with school community Participates in district professional development Maintains professional work habits Performs other job-related duties as assigned by principal and/or administrator of student interventions.

Building Principal and Administrator of Student Interventions

Salary and Terms of Employment

Salary and terms of employment will be commensurate with the Westfield Public Schools unit A contract.

Performance Evaluation

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Westfield School Committee’s policy on evaluation.

Position Status

This position is subject to funding.
