Job Summary
Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is accepting applications for a full-time, evening shift custodian position available at Eastern Montgomery High School.
Job Description
The custodian performs routine manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of buildings. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Dust mopping
- Sweeping
- Wet mopping
- Vacuuming
- Dusting
- Waxing
- Removing trash
- Cleaning bathrooms
- Polishing furniture
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- High school diploma or equivalent, or passing score on the literacy test given by MCPS
- Ability to perform tasks requiring moderate physical strength
- Ability to read basic operating instructions
- Ability to cooperate with other staff members
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
- Ability to respond to emergencies in support of students and school operations
- Physical ability to repeatedly lift heavy objects (40+ lbs.) as needed
- Dependability and punctuality
- Ability to support school functions and community activities as deemed necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment is preferred. Previous custodial experience is also highly recommended. Additionally, the ability to use a computer and input data is an asset.
Employment Terms
This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $35,880.00 - $62,915.80 annually, with benefits. The benefits include:
