Overview
Job Title: Construction & Environmental Specialist - Primary Purpose: - · Assist the Construction Director with managing the Department's environmental program and coordinating building audits, fire inspections, and general inspections. - · Maintain the Department's compliance with current codes, laws, ADA, and State regulations. - · Assist in managing permits, records, and documentation. - · Conduct and oversee indoor air quality assessments and asbestos records management. - Qualifications: - · Education/Certification: - · High school diploma or GED certificate - · Asbestos Program Management Certification - Special Knowledge/Skills: - · Basic understanding of all types of maintenance and construction practices and ability to read and understand building specifications and schematics. - · Ability to understand and communicate Federal and State codes and laws. - · Ability to maintain excellent records and files. - · Ability to manage multiple projects. - · Proficient computer skills with use of the following in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). - · Proficient in use of the English language, both oral and written. - · Efficient organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. - Experience: - · Two years of general maintenance experience - Major Responsibilities and Duties: - · 1. Facilitate fire and general building inspections of HCDE buildings, centers, and campuses. - · 2. Facilitate the Asbestos Awareness Program. - · 3. Facilitate indoor air quality (IAQ) control for the Department. - · 4. Assist the Director of Construction in budget planning and special project cost estimate acquisitions. - · 5. Assist construction director with observations and inspections at ongoing construction projects. - · 6. Maintain construction files. - · 7. Prepare bid documents, contracts, subcontracts, and requisitions for construction projects. - · 8. Facilitate playground inspections. - · 9. Maintain confidentiality of information. - · 10. Perform other duties as assigned.
