Long-term substitute elementary music teacher position at Neason Hill Elementary School for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year.

Certification Requirements

Holds a valid Pennsylvania Music K-12 teaching certificate as set by the state certification authorities for that specific position and meets the requirements for certification that includes being highly qualified as outlined by the Federal NCLB Act.

Technical Skills

Must have understanding and knowledge of computer technology.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Building Principal

Job Goal

To enable students to learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature and responsible men and women.

Planning

Plans a program of study within the curricular framework of the district that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.

Classroom Environment

Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to lifelong learning, to the maturity and interests of students, and encourages students to be active learners.

Guiding Student Learning

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects which communicate these objectives to students.

Technology Integration

Employs instructional methods and materials that are appropriate in preparing for the information age by using technology in the educational process.

Assessment and Progress Reporting

Assesses the accomplishments of students using a variety of methodology on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.

Collaboration with District Specialists

Seeks the assistance of district specialists when students have possible learning, social or emotional difficulties.

Communication with Colleagues, Students, and Parents

Confers with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.

Implementation of School Policies

Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct.

Classroom Management

Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures which maintain order in the classroom in a fair and consistent manner.

Supervision of Teacher Aides, Volunteers, and Student Teachers

Plans and instructs purposeful assignments for teacher aides, volunteers, and/or student teachers.

Staff Development and Professional Growth

Participates in staff development activities which will provide research-based training and knowledge in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Attendance at Staff Meetings and Committee Participation

Attends staff meetings and demonstrates a willingness to serve on district committees when possible.

Other Responsibilities

Performs other reasonable duties as are assigned by the Principal for the well-being of the student.
