Job Goal
Assist in providing quality childcare in a nurturing, safe environment using a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 6 months' experience required
• Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software
• Satisfactory criminal background check
• Negative TB test required upon hire
Core Job Functions
• Supervise Children
• Supervise children in the before and after school program, but not limited to play periods, mealtime, field trips, bathroom, assemblies, and emergency drills.
• Prepare Lesson Plans
• Prepare lesson plans and instruct children with an age-appropriate curriculum.
• Create Classroom Displays
• Develop and create bulletin boards, signs, borders, and classroom displays.
• Assist Students
• Assist students with various physical, emotional, and educational needs.
• Provide Guidance
• Provide guidance and direction to students regarding appropriate behavior and social skills.
• Communicate with Parents
• Communicate with parents on the student's progress, behaviors, issues, and outcomes.
• Maintain Confidentiality
• Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed.
• Perform Other Duties
• Be flexible and perform other duties relating to the general job function as assigned by the supervisor.
• Establish a Safe Environment
• Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
• Maintain Cleanliness
• Keep educational materials, equipment, and the general room environment neat, safe, and clean.
• Attend Training Sessions
• Attend all staff training sessions, meetings, and programs.

• Accept responsibility for students' wellbeing and safety while they are in the employee's care.

• Be alert to and report the possibility of any substance use, child abuse, or dangerous situation based upon daily observation.
• Operate Equipment Properly
• Operate and care for the school district's equipment properly.

• Follow district policies as outlined.
• Perform Duties Safely
• Perform all duties safely and prudently as directed by supervisors.
• Participate in Training
• Participate in a minimum of 18 training hours per year.
• Maintain Certification
• Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification as required by the program.

Physical Requirements
Positions in this classification often require physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, and sitting. The job involves finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), and focusing ability. Employees may be exposed to travel, odors, dust, poor ventilation, workspace restrictions, and loud noises.
