Qualifications
High school diploma; associate degree preferred. As of January 8, 2006, meet one of the following three requirements:
Job Title
Instructional Assistant (for context)
Option 1: Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education in an education-related field;
or
Option 2: Obtain an associate’s or higher degree in an education-related field;
or
Option 3: Meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate through a formal state (PARapro assessment) or local academic assessment
Knowledge and ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics; or, Reading, writing, and mathematics readiness.
Required Training
Successful completion of a RIDE-approved Teacher Assistant training program required.
Key Skills
Demonstrate patience, tact, confidentiality and professionalism in dealing with students, parents, teachers, and the public.

Classroom teacher Building principal/Assistant principal
Rate & Work Schedules
Part-time: 17.5 hours/week; one-year only
Performance Responsibilities
Under the supervision of certified teachers, prepare for classroom activities in the implementation of instructional goals and objectives selected by supervisor. Work individually and with small groups of students as appropriate to reinforce and supplement concepts previously introduced by the supervisor. Perform duties related to classroom needs as directed and requested for preparation and delivery of instruction. Participate in in-service training programs as required. Assist with the supervision of students, as scheduled by the supervisor and/or principal/Assistant principal. Work to maintain open lines of communication with staff, students and parents. Maintain ethical behavior in relation to confidentiality concerning students. Assist, as requested, in maintaining documentation. Perform all other duties related to programming as may be assigned by the supervisor and/or principal/Assistant principal.
