General Duties

The 2022-2023 Caminos K-8 Working Group will build a shared understanding of the best practices in dual language education using the Center for Applied Linguistics guiding principles of dual language education (GPDLE). The team, which will include balanced representation from the three schools in the program, will build on the work which began last year at the Kelly School. Specifically, the emphasis in this coming year will be on Strand 1 of the GPDLE: Program Structure. Participants will unpack current research on dual language curricula and work collectively to review and, as needed, draft recommendations for the Caminos' leadership team. Special attention to vertical alignment will be central to this working group as we use our collective energy to review our vision, mission, language allocation plans and program structures.

On This Team

All participants will:
• Serve as leaders/representatives from their collective grade and school
• Review the research in the guiding principles for dual language education (3rd edition)
• Support the roll-out of the program self-assessment plan, Strand 1 to all stakeholders
• Analyze the data from Strand 1 for patterns/trends and identify action steps
• Discuss & build shared ownership for the draft vision and mission
• Review K-8 language allocation plan(s) for program and research alignment
• Review Caminos program structures both vertically and horizontally
• Review student performance data (as available) for program health
